Romford Ice Hockey Academy (RIHA) are delighted to formally announce the first appointments in the recreation of the Junior and Division 1 hockey system. The first position for the Academy to seek, fill and announce was that of head coach across all the junior age groups. The name is no stranger to the Romford senior system and he has good previous experience heading up a junior system. He also has an excellent pedigree as a successful defenceman and forward player at Romford, Bracknell, Slough and Chelmsford as well as representing his home nation in the World Championships. With the re-alignment within the Raiders senior organisation, we are delighted to confirm that the Romford Ice Hockey Academy (RIHA) age groups are to return to named teams. The titles will of course be familiar to those who have been around the Junior club for some time and this will include many of the present Raiders National squad who will have progressed through these team names during their own development. Following the departure of Ben Pitchley as General Manager of Romford Junior Raiders, we are delighted to announce a positive change in structure where the entire club will now encompass all age groups, from seniors in the National league Raiders through to Under 10. The Junior system will become known as “Romford Ice Hockey Academy” in line with the player development ethos. The management are excited to see the Raiders National team having a more active involvement whilst bringing the Junior system under the one banner.
